About us

Tea (Camellia sinensis) has been part of Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Long before it became the world's most beloved drink, it was a plant — grown wild on mountain slopes, harvested carefully, and used by practitioners to support health and vitality.

CHIKICHA exists to honour that origin and bring it back into everyday life.

We are David and Niu Niu, two Chinese medicine practitioners based in Australia. Our teas and herbs come directly from Niu Niu's family mountain land in Fujian, China — wild-grown, organic, tended across generations. The same mountains, the same careful hands, the same living relationship between family and plant that has always been at the heart of this tradition.

In Chinese medicine, tea is selected and used thoughtfully — different teas suit different seasons, different constitutions, different needs. Aged teas carry qualities that fresh teas don't. Tea's most powerful quality is the pleasure and enjoyment it brings when shared. This understanding is at the heart of everything we share at CHIKICHA.

This is Yang Sheng 養生 — the ancient art of nourishing life through simple, consistent daily practice.

Good plants. Used well.

Why Chi ki Cha

Chi and Ki mean ‘life force energy’ in Mandarin and Japanese, and Cha means tea. Our roots in Chinese medicine, martial arts, and healthy living help us to appreciate and understand the subtleties that tea can offer in its energetic qualities.

Plantation

Navigating China’s vast tea industry can be daunting, even for locals. With guidance and family support, we have done the hard work for you – offering quality tea from our family’s wild growth organic tea plantation, nestled high in the mountains. Uncle’s wild growth tea gardens are leading the industry in sustainable organic wild farming practices, and are renowned for producing the finest white and red teas in China.

Mission

Chi Ki Cha is dedicated to simplifying the world of Chinese tea and making premium tea accessible to everyone. As practitioners of Chinese medicine, we take great pride in harnessing the medicinal properties of tea, and aspire to see it regain its rightful place in the Chinese materia medica.

Our passion for high-quality tea inspired the creation of Chi Ki Cha. Recognising the challenges in finding reliable sources of fine tea, we felt compelled to leverage our expertise in Chinese medicine, and our family’s tea plantations in China, to offer a unique tea experience to enthusiasts and newcomers  beyond China.

Innovation

Our challenge is to offer tea drinkers a new experience of tea,  through innovations in thermal brewing, aged and fermented tea processing techniques for enhanced flavour profiles, energetic qualities and medical applications. Refining the ancient practice of tea arts and culture that has developed over thousands of years, into our modern lifestyle for everyone to enjoy, is the heart of our mission.
